I figure this would be a good way to say who you are and where you are from .

I am Ray, I generally work the G&J Kartway races first class limo service , it really is not the ride you want to take at the track. 😎

Thanks Dean. We are really rookies on this forum stuff, but with some help from our members that understand how this works we will continue to make it better.

My Father brought a new Fox play cart home, back when I was 7 years old. I would drive it in the school parking lot for hours with Father standing on the back.

When I was 12, I bought a Blackhawk Kart powered by a McCulloch from a neighbor that raced sprint cars and that was it I was hooked! I never had the opportunity to race it because it was stolen from the locked garage with my Dad’s Harley 2 years later.

I’ve always wanted another and never got the opportunity, until now that I’m 65. I finally bought a stripped down McCulloch R1 and a GK-1200 roller from a neighbor. I’ve been trying to talk him out of the for 15 years. They were just sitting in the barn.

The restoration will be done as I can afford the parts.

Thanks for the opportunity to share my story.

Jerry….

@deandidion , I appreciate the shout out, but very seldom is just one person responsible for something like this.  The VKA Board pushed to get it included, and Len and Crystal dug in on how to do it.  Although experienced with websites, FORUMS were new to them.  The website including the FORUM, is a work in progress, so I hope everyone will give it a chance.

Glad that you added the forum. Many of our membership do not use Facebook so this will add to their exposure.

@dickteal

Good point Dick.  Does VKA now even need a Facebook site?

@jimkamm The age difference between vintage karters means that we need Facebook, this forum the two other forums that have been around for at least the last 15 years. I don’t know what will be next but something will come along. It’s no different than E-Bay, Facebook Market Place, Craigs List, etc.

Keep having fun, Dick Teal

@jimkamm I think BOTH are necessary so we can cover as many vintage karters as possible.  Some will use one or the other and some will use both.

I’m not a new VKA member (member #233) but I AM EXCITED to finally be able to log into this forum again, after being unable to do so for so long!

Thank you Rolf, and please extend my gratitude to the site’s administrator 🙂

Thanks for having me!

I have an industrial laser in my garage (doesn’t everyone?) and I got involved with making gaskets and reeds for the 2 stroke kart engines about 7 years ago. I have files for most Mac and West Bend engines, but certainly not limited to those.
This is a hobby for me (making gaskets and reeds) just to make a couple bucks to fund my MiniBike addiction…but I also like helping people keep their vintage machines running.
the laser is very accurate and leaves a finished edge on the gasket unlike gaskets that are stamped or cut by hand

if I don’t have a file, you can send me the part and I will make the gaskets for you. You can also check my references (Kneisel, Ives, Bennet, Moore, Brown,Haddock, Sullivan, Kelley)

it is best to email me at CarPlayLB@yahoo.com if you need anything.
I only use FelPro Karropak gasket material and for reeds I use mil-spec G10 FR4 material

gasket material is 1/64”, 1/32”, and 1/16” thick, but I have other material for specific applications

the reeds are done with either .015” or .020” material

i am happy to help anyone and I think you will like my product. Like most people here, I take pride in my work

I am from south western Ohio. G&J would be my local track. I hope to get a vintage kart shortly to join the fun. I raced in the mid 70’s. My youngest two children last ran Shifter Karts late 90’s to early 2000’s. My oldest son ran SM with SCCA and NASA for a few years.
