What an Outstanding VKA event we had! Despite a dismal forecast we got the event in with a great crowd.
We had 86 total entries which ties the all-time entry list at a VKA event at Springfield. I can’t say enough about the hard work Jon Clem, Bri, Taryn, Brandon, and the rest of the Mid-State crew does for the VKA members.
We had about 70 entries on Thursday and due to the Friday forecast ran 1 heat. The weather was great, and we had a great time. I decided that if Friday got cancelled, we would run 2 heats on Saturday and have the kart show in the morning. We gave points on what place Friday/Saturday sign ups registered so they still would have a 3-heat total.
Friday it rained all day, so we cancelled the Friday evening dinner. Jon and his crew provided free food to all Saturday and was a very nice gesture to the participants. Of course, we still had the free cake Saturday as well 🙂
Saturday turned out fantastic. We had a very nice kart show and then ran the final 2 heats. We had 5 entries that chose not to be scored or left early which is why the results show 81 scored entries. We completed the heats at 3PM, gave out the awards (trophies hand made by Jon Clem) and had drawings for numerous prizes that Jon does every year. Thanks to all of the VKA members and their families, friends of Midstate and vintage karting in attendance, for a very successful event.
