Thursday began the event with a full day of practice highlighted by a brisket meal donated by Gene Lang. Friday’s events included two heat races along with the kart show where some beautiful craftsmanship was on display.

On Friday, noon pork burgers and brats were donated by Marty & Joyce Westen. Friday evening after the kart show a pulled pork meal with all the fixings was served by Jack and Sharee Hoegerl. Adult beverage samples were served from a local brewery. These were sponsored by Gene Lang, Steve Wager, Dave Fisher, and Dale Fisher. A huge thank you goes out to all that donated and especially those that helped prepare and serve the meals.

Something new this year was the battle for the first ever Delmar Bricks for our featured class. It was decided to award these to the class with the most entries. This turned out to be the Yamaha Masters class which was divided into a light and heavy division. David Fisher was the winner of the light division and Jim Rowe was the winner of the heavy division. Congratulations to both of these gentlemen. A brick similar to those awarded to the winners along with a plaque listing this year’s winners will be left at the track. Future winners will be added to this plaque each year along with the opportunity to “kiss the brick”.

A 50/50 raffle was held and raised a total of $630.00. Thank You to Diane Magnuson for assisting with this. Pre-tech was completed by Gary Soltau. Thanks Gary! A special thank you to Christy Nielson for all that she does behind the scenes. Of course, the entire Nielson family were again gracious hosts, and I can’t thank them enough. Finally, I can’t thank Rick and Candace Peters enough for volunteering to photograph on Friday! They took an enormous number of photos and asked nothing in return. A link to the photos is on the VKA Facebook page.

As a rookie promoter I truly appreciate everyone that helped to make this another great event at one of the most challenging and rewarding facilities that we are fortunate to compete on.

Plans are underway for another great event in 2024!
