SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Vintage Karting Association will be back at one of the most historic sprint kart tracks in the Midwest the last weekend of April when the series visits the famous Mid-State Kart Club in Springfield, Illinois for the “Land of Lincoln Vintage Weekend.”
Practice will be held Thursday, April 27 with racing taking place Friday and Saturday, April 28-29.
Mid-State’s circuit measures 0.42 miles with the back-straightaway lasting nearly 750’. Speeds are fast and corners vary with a couple sweepers and a few tight, technical turns.
Plenty of hotels are available on the east side of Springfield, which is closer to the track.
The promoter is Ken Wooldridge, who can be reached at 217-202-4908 or wooldridge4@comcast.net.
We hope to see you at Mid-State this spring! Late April is a great time of year to enjoy kart racing in central Illinois, and VKA officials are looking forward to a terrific event.
