Hey guys,
I was just wondering how the gear ratio's are figured.....other then just looking at the stamped numbers on the cheek blocks.
Inside is a 20T coming off the drive, this engages into let's say at 35T, alongside is another 20T engaging the large 80T turning the axle.
I know it's supposed to be a 7.0....I was interested in the math behind this. Okay you scholars out there, any ideas?
Thanks, Bill

Bill - Pretty simple - you figure each ratio separately, then multiply the two individual ratios. That will give you the final drive ratio of 7 to 1.

35 divided by 20 = 1.75
80 divided by 20 = 4.00

4.00 X 1.75 = 7.00

You can use this to figure any combinations of ratios to give you a final ratio.

Thank you Larry Brown for this answer. Once you see how it works it is pretty simple.
I appreciated how you formatted it to see this visually. This works really good for me.
Regards, Bill

Yeah, this was cool information to read and I enjoyed reading all of it. I wonder if you will share some data about the american writers org review site with us now. If you don't do that now, I will be very sad, man. Please, do it for me.
